Wing Training 21/01/16

Postby Sealurk » Sat Jan 16, 2016 1:18 pm

What do people want to focus on for wing training this week? Some suggestions (feel free to suggest your own preferences though):

  • Heading back to a CZ like last time to refine ARC Wing Standard Operating Procedure (defined here), i.e. practicing Point Man and Backmarker positions, refining wing communications etc. (+1)
  • Hitting a RES to try different aspects of ARC Wing SOP not covered in last week's CZ op
  • Focusing on the basics of flying and working in wings - nav-lock, target lock, wing beacon, comms etc.
  • Something that directly benefits the in-game faction (i.e. bounty hunting in Zaonce to boost ARC influence at Ridley Scott) and can be reliably and effectively done in a wing
  • Aerobatics (should that be Astrobatics?)
  • Level Playing Field combat training (everybody in stock Sidewinders)
  • Escort/Protection exercise
  • Wing interdiction training (on wanted targets, but also valid practice for undermining should that become popular again)
  • Team photo attempt #2 (please bring a combat ship that is in blue livery - Vibrant Blue is perfect, any blue or orange livery also acceptable)
  • Messing around in SRVs

Please state if you think you'll be able to make wing training and list your preferences. What I may do if there's enough interest is create a new forum just for wing training and start a new thread with these options in a poll every week for ease of use.

I would like to get the voice comms working and give the cz another go this week.

Combat Zone sounds great. I'll go scout around see if there's an Alliance battle going on for Thursday. My Python's okay for getting about. What's the furtherest you'd be prepared to travel for a fight? Is 200 Light Years too far?

I think we should still keep the training available to everyone. We can always keep our buggies handy for afterwards. <grin>

200 ly is ok by me :) If we need something a bit closer though, there are a few high resolution sites about.
I shall bring my python (couple of buggies in the hold :D ).

I can do 200 ly but I'll need a bit of time to get there - much as I love that ship, the FAS doesn't have much in the way of jump range or fuel capacity (though I intend to play about with the loadout to squeeze a bit more out of the FSD).

There's supposed to be a fight going on at Quator but I can't find the combat zone.

Luckily we don't have to head out to Enki. There's another fight going on just on our doorstep as well
System: XUCURI
distance from Zaonce: 26.57LY
I think that one will still be going on Thursday
I suggest we go for that one.

I like the poll Sealurk :D

Can it be reset each week or will we need a new one?

I'll likely start a new thread with it own poll each week, but we'll see how it works first. You can pick up to three options, and you can change your choices if need be.

I might be a little late into Wing Training tonight, and I may have to leave early - not sure yet, we'll see how it goes. Looks like we're doing CZ wing combat.

The Good News: We had a lot of fun driving the SRVs.

The Bad News: FRAPS didn't capture the moments I hoped it would, i.e. the one that should have been captioned "Where baby SRVs come from", because my computer seems to be experiencing significant problems. Looks like that crash was slightly more serious than I realised.
