Wing Training - It's better discussing it here and not when a fleet of Anacondas is bearing on us

ARC's regular wing training sessions are discussed here.

We'd need to get TeamSpeak up and running for the backmarker idea to work. The point man has to be given some idea when it's ok to target the next ship.

What do people think about weapons specialisation. It would seem that the back marker should have completely kinetic guns, but sometimes the enemies shields can come back up. Also keeping your favourite layout means it's easier to swap roles on the fly.

I like the idea of a backmarker, however the possibility of people missing out on payouts because they've already moved on to the next target rears its head. We would have to try it out.

Weapon specialisation could definitely be something to look at, but I think most of us have a mix of thermal and kinetic anyway which gives us flexibility. If we try the backmarker concept, that guy would definitely need to over-emphasise the kinetic portion of his loadout.

Loadout specialisation for wing ops makes more sense in non-weapon terms though - if we ever go back to undermining on a regular basis (I do miss it) at least one person needs an interdictor, if we do RES we don't need but would be better off with KWS, and if we ever look into the idea of trader/explorer/miner escort we might need a cargo scanner to ensure that our employer isn't hauling anything that goes against ARC principles, i.e. slaves ("We reserve the right to refuse any mission at any time without stating a reason and we will not escort any commander carrying slaves except to the nearest System Defence Force prison").

Unless they've changed things I don't think there's any need to Wing up for undermining. They are in little tiny couriers. I'm in a giant great battlefighter. Most of the time I'd be stuck in normal space waiting for my FSD to cool down.

I do like the idea of ethical employment. I can't imagine anyone being daft enough to employ an Alliance team to escort their slaves to the market, but you never can tell. All the Hutton Runs so far have been mercy missions and so there's been no clash of interests there.
